Who it is for
Traders who already have a rule-based idea for an options strategy — a time-based straddle, an indicator-triggered entry, a multi-leg spread held to expiry — and want to know how it would have behaved before any money is involved.
It suits people who trade rules rather than tips: everything on the desk starts from a strategy definition you wrote and can read back.
What MangoTheta does
- Strategy Builder: Point-and-click legs, conditions and exits. Everything the engine can run is reachable without writing code.
- Backtest Lab: Fills modelled the way the exchange would have filled them, on real lot sizes and real expiry rules.
- AutoTune Lab: Four ways to search a parameter space, and the machinery to tell you when the winner is just an artefact of the sample.
- Options Desk: The chain, the structure and the dealer positioning behind it.
- Live Deployments: The strategy you tested is the strategy that runs. Paper first, and live once you connect a broker.
- Risk & Review: What is open, what it is exposed to, and what happened when it closed.
- Copilot & Market Intel: Ask in plain English. The answer is computed from your data, not guessed.
The data behind every backtest
MangoTheta backtests on one-minute option prices for NIFTY from January 2020, and for Bank Nifty, Fin Nifty, Midcap Nifty and Sensex from January 2024, updated after every session.
Fills use real lot sizes per underlying and the real expiry calendar, including holiday-shifted weeks. Statutory charges — STT, exchange fees, SEBI fee, stamp duty and GST — are shown on their own line; brokerage and slippage are yours to set, because they depend on your broker.
What MangoTheta does not do
- It gives no tips, signals or investment advice, and it is not a SEBI-registered investment adviser or research analyst.
- It does not manage money or trade on your behalf; live orders go only through a broker account you connect.
- It does not publish the past or expected returns of any strategy.
- It covers NSE and BSE index options only — no single stocks, commodities, crypto or overseas markets.

Common questions
What is MangoTheta?
MangoTheta is a platform for building, backtesting, tuning and running systematic strategies on Indian index options, without writing code.
Which markets does MangoTheta cover?
Index options on NSE and BSE: NIFTY, Bank Nifty, Fin Nifty, Midcap Nifty and Sensex.
How far back does the historical data go?
One-minute option prices for NIFTY from January 2020, and for Bank Nifty, Fin Nifty, Midcap Nifty and Sensex from January 2024, updated after every session.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Legs, entry conditions and exits are set point-and-click in the Strategy Builder, or described in plain English to the Copilot, which builds the strategy and checks it can run.
Can I test a strategy for overfitting?
Yes. Walk-Forward fits on one stretch of history and judges on the next, Bayesian Search keeps an out-of-sample tail, the Neighbourhood check re-runs each setting at its neighbouring values, and the report flags overfit risk.
Can I trade live?
Paper trading against the live feed comes with every plan and the free trial. Live execution is open to invited accounts while broker testing widens, through Fyers, Shoonya (Finvasia), Flattrade and Stoxxo.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every new account starts with the Free trial: 5 days with 100 credits, Grid Search, Bayesian Search and Walk-Forward, and no card. After it, runs need the Plus and Professional plan; your strategies and reports stay. Credits pay for backtests and AutoTune searches.
Can I use MangoTheta from Claude or another AI assistant?
Yes. MangoTheta has an MCP connector: connect Claude, or any assistant that speaks MCP, and build, backtest, tune and read reports in conversation. Every figure comes from the engine, and every cost is confirmed before a run spends credits.
How do I contact MangoTheta?
Write to [email protected]. MangoTheta is built in Bangalore, India.
Does MangoTheta give trading advice?
No. It is software for testing and running your own strategies. It is not a SEBI-registered investment adviser, and derivatives trading carries a substantial risk of loss.
