Charts

Charts is the app’s live market desk. It puts the index price, the at-the-money straddle, market breadth and the option chain’s open interest and greeks on one page, so you can read them together.

Where to find it: left menu → MARKET → Charts. It is also the page the app opens on.

The page has three parts:

  1. Top left: the price chart, with the advance/decline chart under it.
  2. Top right: three straddle and open-interest charts.
  3. Below (scroll down): three panels of numbers (Market Signals & OI Walls, IV Metrics, Greeks) and the GEX Profile chart.

Drag the thin bar between the left and right columns to make either side wider.

Toolbar, left to right:

Control What it does
NIFTY / SENSEX Choose the index. Everything on the page switches with it.
IV−RV Implied volatility minus realised volatility, in percentage points. Hover to see both numbers.
1m 3m 5m 15m Candle size: each candle covers 1, 3, 5 or 15 minutes.
Vol Show or hide volume bars.
ƒx Indicators Add indicators to the chart, for example a moving average. Each one appears as a small tag on the chart: click ◉ to hide it, × to remove it. The number on the button is how many you added.

On the chart:

Item What it is
VWAP or SESS AVG (blue line) The session’s average price. When the candles have volume it is a true VWAP (volume-weighted). Index candles have no volume, so for the index the line is SESS AVG: the plain average of each candle’s (high + low + close) ÷ 3 since the open.
ORB H / ORB L Opening range high and low: the highest and lowest price from 9:15 to about 9:30.
ZERO G (blue line) The gamma flip: the price where the option dealers’ total gamma changes sign, nearest to the current price. On one side dealers are long gamma, on the other short. See Gamma flip in Key terms.
γ WALL (pink line) The strike with the largest gamma exposure (GEX) in the option chain.
OI Δ Wall (orange line) The strike where open interest changed the most today.
ID CE↑ / ID PE↓ / ID γW (dotted lines) The same walls, measured on today’s change in open interest only. ID CE↑ is the call wall above the index, ID PE↓ the put wall below it, and ID γW the strike with the most gamma from today’s change. They show where new positions are being built.
+ / - Zoom in and out.
Recent Jump back to the latest candle.

Markers on the candles. The chart marks a few events of the day with small arrows and dots. They only describe what the price did; they are not trade calls.

Marker When it appears
ORB↑ BUY / ORB↓ SELL The first candle after 9:30 that closes above the opening-range high (or below its low). Once each per day.
VWAP↑ / VWAP↓ A candle closes above the blue average line after being below it (or the other way). At most twice each per day.
0γ↑ / 0γ↓ A candle closes across ZERO G. At most twice per day.
γW The price comes within about a third of a strike step of the γ WALL. Once per day.

Example: NIFTY trades between 23,960 and 24,010 from 9:15 to 9:30, so ORB H is 24,010 and ORB L 23,960. At 9:42 a candle closes at 24,018: an ORB↑ BUY arrow appears under it. If the price later falls back and closes below the blue line, a VWAP↓ arrow appears.

Chart What it shows
Straddle Premium & VWAP SD Bands Combined Premium: the price of the at-the-money call plus put, minute by minute. It is red while above its own VWAP (bad for a seller) and green below it. Around it: VWAP High and VWAP Low (the same average worked out from each minute’s highs and lows), and bands at ±1 SD and ±2 SD (one and two standard deviations). ATM IV is drawn too. Click a name in the legend to hide that line. Above the chart, small readouts give the latest CE and PE prices, the Strike, and SynFut: the synthetic future, strike + call − put.
Premium Momentum (ROC) How fast the straddle premium is rising or falling (rate of change).
γ-Weighted OI Open interest added today (not the total), weighted by gamma, for calls (CE γ-OI) and puts (PE γ-OI), and the difference (NET (CE−PE)). Only strikes near the opening at-the-money strike count.
Advance / Decline · NIFTY 50 How many of the 50 NIFTY stocks are above their own VWAP and how many below, through the day.

Example: if the NIFTY 24,000 call is ₹110 and the 24,000 put is ₹95, the combined premium is ₹205 and SynFut is 24,000 + 110 − 95 = 24,015.

Straddle State Zones is the coloured strip under the straddle chart. Each minute gets a colour from where the premium stands against its own average and spread over the 30 minutes ending 5 minutes earlier:

Zone When
Compression (blue) More than 1 SD below that average: options are getting cheaper.
Normal (teal) Within 1 SD.
Watch (amber) More than 1 SD above.
Prepare (orange) More than 2 SD above.
Roll (red) More than 2 SD above and still rising more than 2% over the last 5 minutes.

Example: the straddle averaged ₹200 with a spread (SD) of ₹6 over that half hour. At ₹207 the minute is Watch; at ₹214 Prepare; at ₹214 and up from ₹208 five minutes earlier (about +3%) it is Roll. A seller would read amber-to-red as “the market is pricing a bigger move than a few minutes ago”.

Row What it shows
Max Pain The strike at which all the open calls and puts together would be worth the least at expiry, and how far the index is from it (in %, with an arrow for the direction).
PCR Signal The put-call ratio: total put open interest ÷ total call open interest. The label is a fixed rule: BULLISH FLOW below 0.8, BEARISH FLOW above 1.2, NEUTRAL in between.
OI Velocity CE / OI Velocity PE How much call / put open interest changed today, in thousands.
OI Buildup UNWINDING when call and put open interest are both falling today; BUILDING otherwise.
OI Walls & Levels CALL wall: the strike above the index with the most call gamma. PUT wall: the strike below the index with the most put gamma. Each shows its open interest and the same wall measured on today’s changes only (Intraday).

Example: total put open interest is 1.1 crore and total call open interest 1.0 crore, so PCR Signal is 1.1 and reads NEUTRAL (between 0.8 and 1.2). If calls grew to 1.5 crore, PCR would be 0.73 and the label BULLISH FLOW: a fixed rule, not a forecast.

Row What it shows
IV Edge (IV−RV) Implied volatility minus realised volatility. The label under it is a fixed rule: SELL PREMIUM above +3, ELEVATED above +1, CHEAP — BUY below −1, otherwise FAIR.
OPT Tension How stretched option prices are, from IV − RV and the put-call ratio, shown as a word and five bars: LOW (1), NORMAL (2, IV − RV above 0.5), ELEVATED (3, above 1.5), HIGH (4, above 3, or PCR below 0.8 or above 1.4), EXTREME (5, above 5, or PCR below 0.7 or above 1.5).
ATM IV Implied volatility of the at-the-money options.
Call IV (OTM) / Put IV (OTM) Implied volatility of out-of-the-money calls and puts.
IV Skew Trigger Put IV minus call IV. The label is a fixed rule: ⚡ SELL CE when the difference is above +2, ⚡ SELL PE below −2, otherwise WATCH.
Realized Vol (RV) How much the index has actually been moving.

Example: ATM IV is 14% and realised volatility is 10%. IV Edge is +4, above +3, so the label reads SELL PREMIUM: options are priced for bigger moves than the index has been making. With put IV 16% and call IV 13.5%, IV Skew Trigger is +2.5 and reads ⚡ SELL CE.

Row What it shows
Net GEX Total gamma exposure of option dealers, in ₹ crore. Positive (green) means dealers are long gamma; the line under it says Long Gamma or Short Gamma.
Net DEX Total delta exposure of the open interest, in ₹ crore.
γ Speed The balance of call against put gamma exposure: (call GEX − put GEX) ÷ (both together), in percent. Positive means call gamma dominates.
Δ Skew Directional pressure from today’s open-interest flow.
Vanna Bias / Charm Bias BULLISH, BEARISH or neutral, from how delta would shift with volatility (vanna) and with time (charm).
Stress Score A 0-to-10 score of how likely a sharp move is. It gains points when the index is on the short-gamma side of ZERO G, and when implied volatility is more than 5 points above actual volatility. It also gains points when call and put open interest are both falling, when gamma or open-interest building is lopsided, or when India VIX jumps. Amber from 3, red from 5.

Example: Net GEX +₹1,200 crore, Long Gamma, and Stress Score 1 (green): dealers’ hedging tends to calm moves today. If NIFTY falls through ZERO G, the card turns Short Gamma, the score gains 3 points and turns amber.

A bar chart of gamma exposure at every strike, with the days to expiry (DTE) at the top right.

Mode What the bars show
CE/PE Split Call GEX and put GEX as separate bars.
Net GEX Calls and puts added together at each strike.
Intraday GEX from today’s change in open interest only.

Hover a bar to see that strike’s CE GEX, PE GEX and Net GEX (in ₹ crore), and its CE OI, PE OI, CE IV and PE IV. Dashed lines mark the γWall and MaxPain strikes.

Example: the tallest green bar is at 24,500 and the tallest red bar at 23,800. Large gamma sits at those strikes, which is why they often act as resistance and support. Switch to Intraday: if the biggest bar is now at 24,300, most of today’s new positions were built there.

The header repeats the key levels: Net GEX, Dealer position, γ Wall, Zero γ (the same level as ZERO G on the price chart: the gamma flip) and Max Pain.
